RESUMEN

Los laboratorios clínicos enfrentan el desafío de brindar servicios de calidad, porque los resultados
afectan el diagnóstico y las decisiones médicas; por otro lado estos negocios enfrentan una creciente
competencia. La aplicación de Lean Manufacturing (LM) en el laboratorio en estudio es una
innovación para mejorar la eficiencia y la experiencia del paciente. En la presente investigación se
mapearon los procesos de laboratorio, desde la recepción de pacientes hasta la entrega de resultados
con el objetivo de identificar los desperdicios y las oportunidades de mejora en las áreas pre-
analíticas y analíticas, como tiempos de espera excesivos, falta de comunicación eficiente y
problemas en la gestión de recursos que son punto de partida para mejorar la calidad, eficiencia y
confiabilidad de los resultados a partir del diseño del nuevo mapa de cadena de valor como siguiente
paso.
ABSTRACT

Clinical laboratories face the challenge of providing quality services, because the results affect
diagnosis and medical decisions; on the other hand, these businesses face increasing competition. The
application of Lean Manufacturing (LM) in the laboratory under study is an innovation to improve
efficiency and the patient experience. In the present investigation, laboratory processes were mapped,
from the reception of patients to the delivery of results with the aim of identifying waste and
opportunities for improvement in the pre-analytical and analytical areas, such as excessive waiting
times, lack of efficient communication and problems in the management of resources that are the
starting point to improve the quality, efficiency and reliability of the results from the design of the new
value chain map as the next step.
